Well, I'm back.

Where was I? (In case you're asking, although you might not be… and yes, I am feeling slightly insecure about my self worth right now.)

We left last week, on August 18, for a impromptu vacation, in which we went to Missouri to visit my husband's parents who had not, as of yet, met their newest grandchild, our darling baby Mickey.

Upon returning this past Saturday (date escaping me at the moment), we discovered that our house had apparently been struck by lightning.

Total damages?  Our air conditioning unit, our water softening unit, our security system,  the hand-held telephones (fried at the base and therefore unusable), the VCR, the DSL router which supplies our internet, and my desktop computer (a Dell Dimension 8300 which I had custom built to my own specifications in 2004 and upgraded several times in the past 2 years).

After frantic calls to American Home Shield (home appliance insurance), our insurance agency, Verizon and several technicians of various kinds… the security system and the Internet have been restored *pets laptop lovingly*

The people fixing our AC have been dicking us around and my desktop -- with all my Sims, Paint Shop Pro and various programs I've downloaded over the years -- is in the hands of a repair guy whose phone call I am awaiting while biting my nails.

The laptop is great but it's not meant for my Sims 2 games (meaning I shouldn't install all the expansions I have if I don't want the laptop to burn up on me) and I would be lost without PSP.

Please pray for my desktop, dear friends.  I would be lost without it.

While I was gone my paid time on LiveJournal expired.  I've upgraded to a Plus Account, so you poor people visiting it will find ads now.  *sigh*  Alas, I have not the $$$ to pay for more LJ time and might not for a very long while.  *kicks lightning storm and promptly gets zapped*

But… I'm back.  Yay.

Okay...

Last week (or maybe the week before) someone on my flist had info on how to back up and/or move your LJ to another home.

LJ has it's own export interface, but it only does 1 month at a time.  I've been on LJ since 2002.  I don't want to do that extensive of a back up 1 month at a time.

Links/help/tutorials/offers to do it for me?

Thanks muchos in advance!

This Journal Is Friends Only

friends only banner by [info]jadeicons  available here.

Well, I honestly meant to do this post two weeks ago, but life hasn't given me much opportunity. This journal is officially friends-only. Read the lj-cut below, then comment to be added.

And because it seems relevant, here's my basic Friending & Defriending Policies

Friending )

Well, that's it.  Comment below if you want me to friend you.

Okay, so I followed a link to a fanfic and found a friends-only wall instead, what now?

If you're asking yourself that question, it's because after five-and-a-half years on LJ, I've decided to friends-lock my journal (call me paranoid, but after StrikeThrough2007, I no longer trust LJ not to start deleting all openly fannish journals).  I used the mass-locking tool to lock all of my posts, and I'm really too lazy to look through five-and-a-half years worth of comms just to edit all the posts I may have linked to my journal.

But if you did come here looking for my fic, you can find it, conveniently, on my fanfic archive.

Scattered Thoughts

I normally post fics to my archive right away, so pretty much everything is there.

(Oh, yeah, don't forget to leave leave feedback!)
